Future Continuous Tense



Definition:-
Future Continuous Tense refers to the action which will be continued at a future point of time.
I will be waiting for her.
Structure:-
Subject + shall/will + be + verb-ing
1st and 2nd Persons will take shall and the 3rd person will take will.
Assertive Sentence: Positive

I shall be playing.
We shall be playing.
2nd Person
You shall be playing.
You shall be playing.
3rd Person
He will be playing.
She will be playing.
It will be playing.
They will be playing.

Assertive Sentence: Negative

2nd Person
You shall not be playing.
You shall not be playing.
3rd Person
He will not be playing.

They will not be playing.

Some Important Rules to Remember:
·        In simple future, a specific time is used to display the time an action will begin or end. In future continuous tense, a specific time interrupts the action.
Today at 10 a.m., I am going to wear my school dress.
It means “I am going to start wearing dress at 10 a.m.”
Today at 10 a.m., I am going to be wearing my school dress.
It means “I am going to begin earlier and I will be in the process of wearing school dress at 10 a.m.”
·        Non-continuous verb cannot be used in any continuous tenses. Simple future must be used instead of future continuous tense.
Kerry will be being at school at noon.   XXXXXX Incorrect
Kerry will be at school at noon.

·        Like all future tenses , the future continuous tense cannot be used in clauses starting with time linkers like after, as soon as, before, by the time, unless, when, while etc.
While I will be doing my homework, Steve is going to solve sums. XXXX Incorrect

While I am doing my homework, Steve is going to solve sums.
