Parts of Speech




NOUN

- Noun is a name of anything.It is a naming word. Door,man,sky are nouns.There are five types of Noun :-
1.Common Noun
2.Proper Noun
3.Collective Noun
4.Material Noun
5.Abstract Noun


PRONOUN -
A word which is used instead of a Noun is called a Pronoun .
We are going to Washington.

ADJECTIVE
-An adjective is a word that qualifies a noun or a pronoun .It is used in two forms-
1) attributive
2)predicative 

VERB
-A verb is  being or  having or doing word.
Play,go,come etc are some verbs.

* A simple sentence contains only one subject and a single finite verb.
*A clause contains one principal clause and one or more subordinate clauses.
*Compound sentence contains two or more principal clauses with or without any subordinate clause




ADVERB
- An Adverb is a word which is used to modify a verb ,an Adjective or an another Adverb
-early, always, well, before, again, soon, ago, far, late, ever, never, near.
-We walk slowly.
 We are very happy.
 Stephen runs very slowly.

PREPOSITION
 -Preposition is placed before a noun or a pronoun to show its relation with another word in a sentence. -by, with, at, in.
- at dawn, at noon, at, night, at 3 pm, at 12 noon, in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening.

CONJUNCTION
-Conjunction is used to join words or group of words or sentences.
 -and, as, still, than, lest, before, but, so, if, yet, till, after, or, because, though, else, until ,therefore.




INTERJECTION
-An Interjection is a Parts of Speech which expresses joy, grief or some such sudden feeling or emotion  .
-hurray , alas, tut, fie, pooh, shame, what, hush ,goodbye, bravo, hello.Some Prepositions are for happiness,some for sorrow,some for annoyance etc.
